Mould Release Wax

Our mould release range includes wax, PVA release agents and tooling gel. Each of these options has a different purpose and is ideal for different applications – if you are not sure which one will suit your project the best, drop into Ace Fibreglass Supplies or give us a call on 07 5493 9974. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff are always happy to answer your questions and provide advice.

Mould Wax

MoldWax is a great option if you are looking for a mould release agent – to use it you start by wetting the wax and applying it in a circular motion using an applicator. Once it has dried you then polish it off with a soft rag – it is important that all wax is polished from the mould as the pre-release will be a problem if there is extra wax left behind. Also, ensure that you always polish with a soft rag and not a high-speed buffer, as this will cause further problems.

PVA Release Agents

Our PVA Mould Release Agent comes in a liquid form and is applied by cloth, brush or spray gun for fast application. This product is water soluble, easy to clean off and is ideal for one-off jobs or when ‘braking in’ a new mould.

Please note that care must be taken when using this product – not using enough product will cause the mould and laminations to bond, while using too much product will cause imperfections such as ‘gatoring’ (impressions of alligator hide) of the gel-coat.

Ace Fibreglass Supplies offer repair and custom project services so if you are not sure how to use this product, we can help you out.

Tooling Gel

Tooling gel is the paint that goes inside the mould; it is a much stronger paint then your standard gel coat or flow coat so that when you are taking the mould off it doesn’t come off.
